KC Fringe. phase 04. final presentation + rebrand book.

The Kansas City Fringe Festival is more than just a festival for performance art + creative expression; we are an ever-growing creative family. We have continued to fulfill Kansas City’s need to: explore edgy art, experience new art genres, allow artists to explore their own art, as well as present live production at an affordable cost. The Kansas City Fringe Festival will continue to be a place where people can take chances, not only as an artist, but also as an audience member as long as you need us to help bring expressive freedom to the community. Kansas City's festival occurs yearly and is a packed 10 day adventure into various forms of art and expression including acts such as burlesque, puppetry, dance, fashion, music, theater, and much more.

design systems. even more poster work.

I still need to figure what the extra tagline is, the one for the promotional posters that will state the kind of festival that it is, with the types of events that they will have. But this is the style that I'm aiming with, selective color to bring focus to the character/performer.

Professor Craig's feedback.
-color maybe isn't quite right
-think about choosing something that makes the performer stand out
-maybe add that teal or another color on all of the performers?
-is selective color adding too much to the instrument/piece of equipment + not emphasizing the performer enough?

design systems. more poster work.

Some more in class promotional poster style work. It's getting there for sure. I'm trying to decide if a horizontal or vertical layout work best. Maybe it could go either way? The full promotional series will have many of the acts that have performed in the past at the Kansas City Fringe Festival. Two of these types of acts are shown below.

mK feedback.
-Fringe needs to be kerned in some colors
-yes, his buddies would go see these shows based on the posters/imagery
-poster format works in both vertical + horizontal format; kind of fun
-I'm finally getting somewhere good; much improved
-circular image is not too distracting
-agrees with CN + PD on using same imagery in slightly different forms for various promo materials
-didn't mind the tag line
-thinks my secondary statement about KC Fringe Festival still needs to be worked on

design systems. poster work.

Below is some of the promotional power work, overlaying that I've been working with, based off of classmate feedback during my presentation. I'm not too sure where I am leaning with these styles. I have heard positive marks from some classmates on the full blown color imagery, as well as with the duo color accent. It was also suggested to try using purple or having the ring in color and the other image in black + white. Luckily I heard back from my contact at the KC Fringe + sent these his way, we shall see what he thinks.

KC Fringe. logo work. sketches.

Below are some more sketches analog + digital of me trying to figure the KC Fringe logo.

feedback Professor Craig.
*I think the top one in the middle column is pretty strong.
*Start looking at different color combinations. Possibly patterns, visuals you could put in the exclamation mark.
*Start utilizing the mark on your touchpoints too. It could help inform a tweak or two in your logo.

KC Fringe. professor feedback.

so, here is where I was going at the end of class Friday.

Professor Craig + Professor Paul feedback.
*for left side option: consider making the exclamation point a vector or an actual font + work on rest of letterforms
*for left side option: try "!" as vector and rest by hand or opposite
*for right side option: flip "i" into exclamation point. it informs the rest of the type. Maybe inverse the text? make every letterform formal except the i
