HYPOTHESIS: if one adds a different layout to the words then the piece gains more personal meaning, in an intimate experience.
WHAT I DID: chose a written narrative, not in poetry form but pulled out most of the verbs and put the rest of the sentence before or after the letter of the verbs. then I printed those layouts on overlays + resume paper and saw what it looked like overlaying them all on a light table.
OUTCOME: the piece appears more like an eye exam chart/Snellen Chart from a distance, but upclose reads more like poetry, attempting to guide the viewer's eyes based on the way of reading focused on the larger letter, first what comes before it, then what comes after and then the next large letter/fragment. with the human mind wanting to make sense out of letters pulled out, it causes the viewer to come closer + become more engaged in the piece.
NEXT EXPERIMENT: try layouts in different scenery/backgrounds...behind text/more in depth, the whole written piece in comparison to the original written piece.
two final pieces showing the 2 pages of the reading.

page 2 of "Your Life As a Poet."
feedback.
*cool shots, very dynamic
*work even larger scale
*put all on one page
*get away from "the page"
*get people to test + see their interpretation
*get more interactive in general
