This project is in connection with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for promotion + incorporation of their Sculpture Park Celebration themed this year Fiesta in the Park; centering around their main exhibition Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Masterpieces of
Modern Mexico from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection.
My partner for this project is the Kim Huynh. For the first round of ideas + inspiration we have the below briefly described, but mainly visual research of the audience, possible physical activities & visual research for design aspects of the project.
MAIN AUDIENCE: Children (3-12) although the audience is as wide as those children younger than 3 and the family that goes along with the children in attendance, our main focus is on the rambunctious children of 3-12.

SCENARIOS: physical activities based around the idea of swirl, bounce, play, recline, spin and dance.
VISUAL RESEARCH part 1: Country Club Plaza
The idea was to derive our visual elements from the architecture of Spain. For research, we went to the nearby Country Club Plaza, which happens to be a sister city to Seville, Spain. The architecture, color, and atmosphere is our inspiration on how we want to approach the design.
VISUAL RESEARCH part 2: the typefaces.
The typefaces chosen are within the family of Arvo and Open Sans, to complement the architecture of the Country Club Plaza. The vivid red color palette was chosen based on the context in which the event will be taking place. Specifically it is based on the idea that the event will be outside in the evening the brighter color would pop out and be easier to read. Also, a common occurrence in elementary schools, basic art knowledge learned in school and colors associated with children is often directly related to bright colors; they hold the ability to attract the attention of an energetic youth.
