type experiment 4.

HYPOTHESIS: what happens when the scale of the poster becomes life size for the author? if you change the size of the poster, will the overlaid images become easier to read with interesting compositions? what happens when color is added to add another layer of meaning? How does paper type effect the text readability?
WHAT I DID: I kept with the same layout of all the text on one page. I overlaid the different pages just as last experiment. For one of the mini experiments I tested having an overlapping page with blue text highlighting "dream big." I tested overlaying with the same thicker page paper as well as normal thin printer paper. I then tiled out 2 huge poster size (66inches 48 inches) layouts of the composition on regular printer paper and I overlaid those 2 posters on a light table and took photos of their interaction on different levels, with different changes such as placement and clarity of text.
OUTCOME: There is possibility to still experiment with the color text, message to actually yield better results. It ended up being very difficult to read/there needs to be more of a contrast to be have the largest impact. Photographing the contrast between 2 larger poster compositions allowed me to take more in focus shots as well as yielded much better composition shots. It was interesting to find that the more attractive overlay page contrast came from regular printer paper; the grittiness of normal paper surprised me. What was a slight surprise because I hadn't given it too much thought was the overlapping with the tile print. In some photos/shots the overlapping was a nice addition of texture but in other compositions it was more of a distraction for me personally.
Still kicking around using the cardboard cut out from experiment 4 post option. I'm thinking that I might try to make some of those cutouts while on Spring Break. And I need to look more into other materials for the paper/what kind of results I would get and work more with that color that I lightly experimented with. And what would this look like out in the environment?!

feedback:
*good photographs/compositions
*work more with three layer interaction
*introduce color, think maybe of color text layering(different colors on different pages) + that kind of page/texture interaction
*think about maybe showing/animating the slow breakdown of format/style from the original piece to current experiment
*maybe think about working with very small text and having people interact via magnifying glass/camera + lens photo wise + doing something with that to make it more interactive
*chris likes my photos + their blur + the fact that it's letting go of some control
