Blog Design Options

The purpose of this assignment was to understand typography on a digital front and how it looks on the internet.  We were to create three different layouts and here were my creations.

The main color palates were turquoises and grays.   The typography used was Trebuchet, #444444 for the main blog post text.  The blog title, #bdedf2 and gadgets text are in Courier, #e18d0f.  The blog titles are in Cousine, #080808.  I wanted to use three typefaces that went smoothly together and were not too difficult to read on the light turquoise background, #bdedf2.  I set the end of each post to have a banner block of color, #03949d to pop just like the blog header to emphasize the end of each post and bring back a connection to the blog header.

The color palate is grays, black, white, and orange/gold.  The typography used was Courier, #999999 for the main blog post text.  The blog title is Georgia, #dd7700.  The gadget text is in Verdana.  My thought was to draw the extra emphasis with the touch of orange/gold, #dd7700.  The color behind the entries is dark gray, #292929.  The gadget label text and date is in white, #ffffff.  The thought is that it would bring emphasis to the posts that were visited, blog title and entry titles.  The background is a very basic design that I created in Illustrator.  I am a fan of pattern, so I figured a nice simple yet designed pattern might be a good addition to the blog.  I wanted to try a background that was not too distracting, just added enough to add some interest.

The color palate is an analogous of reds and oranges.  The blog title was replaced by an image, which was a combination of red and black text; the typography is Trajan Pro.  The main blog post text is Droid Sans Mono, #000000.  The blog titles are in Droid Sans, #c97203.  The date is in Droid Serif, #666666.  I wanted a layout that had a bit of the digital feel, but still that classic typewriter feel.  I want my blog to say a lot without being overwhelming.  I decided that an analogous of reds and oranges would give a positive, if not passionate connotation to the blog; symbolizing the hard work that I put into what I do.  I am a fan of straight lines and crisp shapes, so I added in the white background to the individual blog entries and the rectangle of the blog logo.  The outer background is red, #700101.  The sidebar is .  Link Color is #b60404. Visited Link Color is #666666. Hover Color is #ea9999.  The gadget text is Courier, #bbbbbb.  The sidebar color is #700101.
