research. education. examples.

article. Children's Storybooks with Special Font for Both the Blind and Fully Sighted.
video. on the technology/book/from the article.
MAYBE, this isn't the most beautiful type in the world, but it is definitely useful/helping more people than usual. It's a very interesting premise for me, especially in the eyes (oh the puns) of a designer. This technology/type is a step past hypothetical and in the land now of usability. I did nerd out a bit/get very excited with the idea that people are actively thinking and producing work that helps to fix some of these issues. I know that with many new technologies/systems that there are bound to be issues with it, but I am very fascinated and encouraged to create/concept some other helpful technologies.

article. A Lamp Which Allows You to Change Its Color with Syringes.
video. that demonstrates the color changes + from the article.
It's an interesting concept...it also helps to teach the lesson of colors, meaning teach the mixing of colors. It brings in another tangible learning activity for students/kids, as well as just another fun thing to do. I enjoy the idea of hands on, physical activity mixed with learning. As the years have gone on, the main thing that the generations have done is stay behind their technology, and is less physical and interactive. There needs to be an even balance of the two, which I believe this project does in a good but very minimal way.

video. Biolace, Design and Biofracture.
This video goes over a speculative technology that in the future would allow us to code/rewrite food to do as we need it to, basically help us better sustain. It's a very interesting idea, this idea that we could manipulate food to nourish us in ways that we needed. I know that there has been a lot of similar ideas such as this dealing with editing the gene structure to best benefit us. I think that this type of technology can definitely be beneficial, but it also comes with much potential for people to apply this to all parts of our daily life. I know this type of technology frightens many people, but I find it oddly fascinating and hope that it comes into fruition before I die.
