These are my first attempts at digitalizing my sketches. I re-sketched the designs once I took the photographs, before I began digitalitally combining the images. Those images are found right before each digital composition so far.
My thoughts: This is for Poe's "Silence: a Fable." The theme that I am addressing with this one is Solitude. Although the composition is different that I had initially planned on it, I tried multiple layering and use of images during this completion. I ended up with one eye, where as initially I had a line of eyes along the bottom of the composition.
Comments from class: Good design, they kept seeing more the longer they looked at the composition, good use of cool colors. The only thoughts for change was possibly increasing the size of the eye.
My thoughts: This is for Poe's "Silence: a Fable." The theme is insecurity/change. I wanted to express this idea by continuing to use the mirror shapes that I used in the Solitude themed poster above. I wanted to show how on the top, when one is super bombarded with activities and situations, often we find ourselves insecure because of the number of things going on. I wanted to contrast insecurity with security and did so by using an image of a nice weather day. I knew going into this first process so far critique that it was an issue and bit of an eye sore that the clouds were just placed on the bottom of the poster. Due to all of the bright colors being together guides the viewer to jump to the bottom of the composition and then off the piece; I knew that I needed to figure out a way to calm down the contrast between the top and bottom.
Class Comments: Do not use the same exact shape of the cut outs as the first one, find another way to "cut up" the dark image, integrate the sunny clouds day into the darker scene.
