This was step number two in the process of "Illustrating An Idea." We were to create sketches that went along with the themes that we had picked out for the last assignment. I had problems with completing the drawings for the first take at drawing them, so located below is my first take at creating them. I ordered them by story and theme.
These sketches are illustrating themes for Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart." The first image on each line are illustrating the theme of identity. The second image on each line is illustrating guilt. The third image on each line illustrates time.
These sketches are illustrating themes from Poe's "Pit and the Pendulum." The first image on each line represents curiosity. The second image on each line represents the unknown/the fear of. The third image on each line represents torture(mental vs. physical).
These sketches represent themes from Poe's "Silence: a Fable." The first image on each line represents change and insecurity. The second image represents solitude. The third image represents control and the idea that we never truly have it.
