Typographic Intervention, F+S

The object was to find inspiration for our next project in type.  I went out looking on Pinterest, and FFFFound for examples.  From previous experience I know that these two websites normally yielded good results.  Below is what I found.

Pinterest from Our Wedding! by Stacey Alexander
At first glance this was totally interesting that they used the and sign.  But upon further inspected, where it has the name of the two individuals getting married they are using a different and sign, and that makes the piece less cohesive for me.  But I like how playful yet cohesive the text is laid out.

I always loved art with metal, especially when there is text involved.  I thought this was a cute and interesting way to commemorate the wedding.  I thought it was a good choice of font too, not too formal, not too out there or full or personality.

I knew this was for Bjork, before I could read the whole poster.  She always has some kind of odd type that she uses, plus her name is a bit of an oddity so it sticks out to me whenever I see it.  I definitely think that the image corresponds to the background.  The poster uses a good choice of color that does not make the background too distracting or the text hard to read.  It has just the right about of light and dark between text and background.

The orange color scheme is what caught my eye first.  Then I realized that the orange was in the image background as well as part of the text.  Then I caught hold of the image and got a bit creeped out.  But I like the feel of the image and text together.  It gives of a circus-esk and horror film vibe.  It was a good choice of weights with the text, as well as nestling it in the corner between the eye and the bottom right side.

I saw another image first, but then clicked on this image and am very happy that I did that. I love all of the different ways that the ampersand is being displayed and it makes me very happy. It reminds me a bit of the Adidas logo in a few of them. But I like how the type is not afraid to be different, that it has an elegant quality to it as well as a fun quality.

The worst graphic I've seen in a while, but the text style corresponds with the drawing style of the egg.  I posted this not because I find it extremely attractive, but because it caught my eye.  It is a very simple use of text, image and color.

Part 2: Typography in the Environment.
Upon realizing that I did this incorrectly, I have looked for and found actual uses of text in an image to go along with our current project.

Although you could say that this is just another photograph, it actively uses the word "Dream" within the image.  The other signs in the image are a bit distracting, but help to create the overall idea that this younger generation is dreaming.

Even though this is not a legitimate artist or designer website, this is a good example of using objects to create the word in the environment.  The way that I see this is a possibility of what a very basic concept and idea.  It was also a very predictable interpretation of the phrase.
